FARMACY Green Clean MakeUp Meltaway Cleansing Balm claims and ingredients
FARMACY is a New York-based brand that combines an innovative scientific approach with locally grown clean ingredients in its products. FARMACY Green Clean MakeUp Meltaway Cleansing Balm is a nourishing balm with a soft texture that turns into an oil on the skin and transforms into the lightest milk when contacted with water. Papaya extract gently exfoliates the skin, sunflower and ginger root oils effectively dissolve even the most stubborn makeup, a mixture of lime, bergamot and orange essential oils pleasantly refresh, while Echinacea extract evens out skin texture and colour.
Ingredients: Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Peg-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Peg-10 Isostearate, Polyethylene, Echinacea Purpurea Root Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Moringa Pterygosperma Seed Extract, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Glycerin, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Amber Powder, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Coccinia Indica Fruit Extract, Solanum Melongena (Eggplant) Fruit Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Water/ Aqua/ Eau, Butylene Glycol, Disodium Phosphate, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Citral, Limonene, Linalool
The balm contains plenty of emollients, including Moringa and Sunflower oils, which not only make the skin smooth, soft and silky but also help to dissolve makeup. Also, very mild surfactants are included here to ensure that the balm washes away completely with water, without leaving a greasy film on the skin.
It also contains extracts of turmeric root, echinacea, papaya, moringa, neem leaves, coralline algae, coccinia, eggplant, amber powder, as well as essential oils of ginger root, lime, orange peel for free radicals and antimicrobial protection, inflammation relief, light exfoliation, regeneration and evening out skin colour.
Additionally, here you’ll find a wax form of polyethylene, the debate around the harmful effects of which on the environment is still ongoing. And if you have sensitive skin, look out for essential oils that may irritate.
How it looks and how it feels
The packaging is quite boring – a simple, not heavy plastic jar with a screw cap and a spatula inside. Plus, the sticker with information about the balm almost immediately began to peel off, so overall the package seems cheap to me.
But the texture is amazing. The balm is thick but soft, it instantly turns into a light oil when it comes into contact with the skin, and then into lightful milk when you add some water. Compared to other similar cleansing products that I have had, FARMACY Green Clean MakeUp Meltaway Cleansing Balm is unlike any of them. Heimish All Clean Balm, for example, is more solid and more like sherbert. While the Huda Beauty Wishful Clean Genie Cleansing Balm, on the other hand, is softer and more creamy. And I don’t even know which texture I like better, because all three products are very pleasant to use.
And my impressions
I am a double-cleansing devotee and use this balm in the same way as all other cleansing balms. First, I apply the product to dry skin and gently massage it so that the balm turns into oil. Then add some water and that’s when the oil emulsifies into lightweight milk. And finish my cleansing routine with a traditional foaming cleanser. FARMACY Green Clean MakeUp Meltaway Cleansing Balm is easily removed with water only (no muslin cloths or towels needed) while leaving no greasy or oily film. This type of cleansing balm remains my favourite, by the way.
And the balm does a fantastic job dissolving and removing any make-up, sunscreens and other impurities. It melts away foundations and concealers, eye shadows and not-waterproof mascaras effortlessly so you don’t need to rub or pull the skin. A little more time is needed to dissolve stubborn mascaras, but the whole make-up removal process is always very fast and pleasant. Plus, the whole facial massage routine in conjunction with a delightful citrus aroma is quite relaxing.
On top of that, the balm also nourishes the skin very well living it velvety soft and hydrated. However, I did not notice the claimed light exfoliation with the papaya extract.
